We currently offer Olympic Weightlifting in the Competitive Athlete Training Group.
Please fill out the contact form at the bottom of the page for more info.
We have four platforms, bars from Eleiko, Again Faster and tons of bumpers.
Speed, power, explosion and athleticism are needed to master these difficult lifts. You also need to have a strong body overall in order to improve, whether you want to compete or just have fun.
Our staff of expert Olympic Weightlifting coaches will show you the best ways to increase your overall body strength so that you can translate that new-found strength into improving your weights on the competition lifts (Snatch, Clean and Jerk). We will dissect your technique, note where you are strong and where you need improvement, and then work with you to get your two-lift total moving in the right direction.
Even if you have no desire to ever set foot on a competition platform, learning the Olympic lifts is a great way to get strong and fast. It will help you improve any sport.
TPS has all the right equipment for Olympic lifting that commercial fitness centers don’t have, or even allow you to do. We have bumper plates, chalk, proper Olympic lifting bars, and two separate areas for Olympic lifting. Upstairs we have 4 platforms, but you cannot drop weights, as we are on the fourth floor. Downstairs we have 2 platforms where drops are allowed. We also have a wide variety of specialized strength training equipment not found anywhere else in the area. Simply put, we are the only place to train.
We offer 1-on-1 and Group Training. Keep reading or stop by the gym and see what we have to offer. You won’t be disappointed.
Competitive Athlete Group
This is the best way to learn the lifts, with a QUALIFIED coach. If you train in another facility that uses Olympic lifts and they are taught by coaches with a weekend certification but really want to excel at the Olympic Weightlifting portion of the program, get in here!
Parents of high school-aged athletes: the Olympic lifts are frequently used by well-intentioned, yet unqualified coaches and are taught poorly. Give your child every opportunity to excel. Get them in this program.
You do not need to be either of these to join. Anyone interested in learning the lifts or who wants to be STRONGER, FASTER and MORE ATHLETIC should join.
Our program is overseen by TPS’s Head Strength Coach, CJ Murphy, a USAW-Certified coach to make sure it is outstanding.
This is an all-level groupand is perfect for beginners and intermediate lifters.
We also have coaches form other facilities attend this class routinely to bring their skills up. If it is good enough for them, it will be AWESOME for beginner to intermediate lifters.
You can also work with a qualified coach on the Olympic lifts in a one-on-one setting. See 1-on-1 Personal Training for more details or call TPS at 617-387-5998 for rates and packages.
Personal training is offered to current TPS members, but those considering the gym are welcome to arrange a consultation with a coach any time.
If you have any questions at all, please stop into the gym or give us a call at 781-912-2025
