• We had a slew of athletes lift at the RPS 18th Annual Power Challenge.

Here is an excerpt of their experiences in their own words:

I competed this weekend in the SHW class. I broke my current RPS world record with a 405lb deadlift.

Great meet! I really enjoyed it.

Ended with 225 squat (35 lb meet pr), 110 bench (5 lb meet pr), and 270 DL (20 lb meet pr)

    Thanks!

    Hey Murph,

My first meet. I attached my deadlift video. 275 at 114 weight class. Also I got first place for raw classic open. And I think I hold the new New England squat in the 114 weight class at 225.

    See ya!

Ginny Robinson Memorial Meet and New England Weightlifting Championships

    From Cam Helffrich

    “Hey Murph,

Yesterday went really well all things considered. I did the Ginny Robinson Memorial Meet and New England Championships combined into one meet at Robinson Weightlifting in Franklin.

As for guys who train at TPS, Andrew Sparrow lifted as an 85 kg. on Saturday and went 87x/87x/87kg in Snatch and 105 x/105x/105kg in Clean and Jerk for a 190 kg total.

Ben Priest lifted as a 94 yesterday and went 87x/87x/87kg (I think) in the Snatch, then 115x/115x/115kg in the C&J for a 202kg total. Ben was a HUGE help to me and Alex watching attempts and timing warm ups.

Alex Fischer and I lifted as 105s. He went 6/6 hitting 100/105/110 in the snatch, and 140/145/150 in the C&J. That’s a 21kg meet PR for him.

It was my first meet, so going into it I thought I’d be conservative and set safe openers but I woke yesterday morning thinking that was stupid. Ended up going 4/6 with 100/105/110X in the snatch and 130/135/141X in the clean and jerk. Still pissed I missed that third snatch, it was the best I’ve ever pulled 110 but I rushed out of the hole. Current PRs are 110 in snatch (with straps) and 140 CJ.

I’m really happy with the day, but ready to get back in the gym and smash some PRs. We’re planning on doing another meet in early 2015.

The meet was really well run. In our session on Sunday there were about 50 lifters (94, 105, 105+, and masters all lifted in the session). We started promptly at 2:00pm and I was driving home by 6:30pm. There was also a pretty sick bake sale going on, so gains were had.

Donny Shankles was there and hit a 190kg Clean and Jerk and it was insane to see that in person. We also all have videos of our stuff so we’re going to coordinate with Mustache in getting those to him, he asked earlier in the week.”

Cam, thanks for the great review and congratulations to you and all of the other lifters from TPS.
