    IPF Raw Powerlifting World Championships:

Lodrina Cherne of TeamTPS had an amazing performance at the International Powerlifting Federation Raw World Championships in Finland last month.

Lo has been on vacation and I don’t have all of the details, but I do know she took a Bronze medal in the Deadlift at the World’s biggest stage.

I’ll get you all a full report when Lo gets back.

Sue Priver competed at the WABDL North East National Bench Press and Deadlift Championship Saturday, June 13, 2015 in Portland Maine.

Sue competed in “deadlift only” as a SHW Masters 40-47 and set a new state record pulling 175kg/385lbs.

She also got an invitation to WABDL Worlds in November.

    Congratulations Sue.

Here are a few words from Sue:

June has been a super busy powerlifting month for me.

This calendar year, I have been rehabbing my shoulder and slowly getting back into a gym routine, so I can be pain free.

On Sat June 13th, I competed at the WABDL NE National Bench Press and Dead Lift Championships in the “Deadlift Only” category.

With Jane Stabile handling me, everything went as smoothly as possible, and I pulled 385lbs/175kg. It definitely boosted my confidence on my recovery path.

The following week I had 1 bench session and 1 squat session to make sure that I could perform each of these lifts at light weights pain free. Mission accomplished!

On Friday June 26th, I traveled to Ohio and met up with Lodrina Cherne, Mimi Le, and Liz “Poison AppleBottom” Sacker to attend the EliteFTS Powerlifting Experience 2 at the EliteFTS Compound on Saturday June 27th.

I was assigned to Team Train with fellow TPS Lifter Mimi Le, and we worked with a great group of coaches including TPS Lifter Mickey Belaineh, Harry Selkow, Todd Brock, Matt Smith, Bob Youngs, Casey Williams, Alexander Juan Antonio Cortes, Alycia Israel, Yessica Martinez, and a few others.

I learned a ton, moved about 3 tons of weight, and lifted 195 PR/115/385 (Full Power PR)/695 PR.

The day was an incredible experience to lift with amazing people from around the country and be coached by some of the best powerlifting coaches.

This was a great way to build my confidence in working with my body’s current limitations and continue full steam ahead on my powerlifting journey.

TPS Member Steve Tobey is running and powerlifting!

Steve has been challenging himself in new ways lately and is now up to running 5K’s!

Read about it in his own words here:

    Murph,

Today I finished the Corrib Pub 5k in West Roxbury. I did not walk. As far as my time goes, let’s just say when I was 15 I ran a 5-mile race without training in less time than I did the 3.1 miles today after 8 weeks of training.

I did not come in last.

I guess it’s pretty good considering I couldn’t do a mile without walking 2 months ago.

I’ll do that one in November in Danvers that is in honor of your friend. I’ll be faster then. Just remind me not to go to those pub runs with free pizza and beer at the end.

    Stephen Tobey

Keep up the great work Steve.

TPS Member Sam Perez competed at the AWF National Weightlifting Championships on Saturday June 22nd.

Sam competed in Weightlifting which consists of the Snatch and Clean and Jerk.

He went 5 for 6 which means he completed 5 successful lifts and they are as follows:

    Snatch: 1: 105kg (missed) 2: 105kg 3: 110kg

    Clean and Jerk: 1: 140kg 2: 150kg 3: 160kg

    Total: 270 kg/594 pounds

He took 4th place. Sam is an athlete to watch and is getting better every day.

We expect great things from him.

The boys sent me a few training pictures a few weeks ago.
    Here they are.
