November 2013 Member Minutes:
The Member Minutes section is the place to let us tell the world about how AWESOME TPS members are. I can’t do this unless you tell me about your accomplishments. When TPS first started, I knew EVERY member and I knew what was going on. We have GROWN and, sadly, I don’t know every member. The interweb can fix this. Shoot me an email and let me know about your latest event, whether it is an upcoming event or something you have completed—5K’s, triathlons, powerlifting, or anything sports-related. We want to let the world know. Now, on to this month’s accomplishments:
TPS coach Gerilyn Burnett just competed at the Battle of the Belles, and did well! Read her review of her performance here.
Bad Apple Update:
Jane “Bad Apple” Stabile, business manager at TPS, granny, World Champion and powerlifter extraordinaire is in Prague right now and is about to compete at the World Championships. We will give you a full report on how AWESOME she does when she returns.
TPS/RPS Meet Results:
There were so many TPS lifters at the meet that you should just read the meet report. Congratulations to all and THANKS to everyone who helped out and made this a huge success.
Lodrina does it again:
Here is Lodrina Cherne’s review of her performance at the Night of the Living Deadlift event. This is one of the most competitive meets in the USA and she rocked it! Again.
On October 12th I competed in the Night of the Living Dead deadlift meet in Johnson City, TN. This meet is an opportunity to compete against some of the best deadlifters in the country and all weight classes are scored against each other by a body weight vs. pounds lifted formula.
I weighed in at 121 pounds and opened easily with 365 pounds. Second attempt at 385 was also successful. For the third attempt I picked 408 to try for the win by less than a point but the bar only got to my knees that night.
It was incredible to be a part of the Pro night this year on a platform with 48 attempts over 700 pounds, including a few attempts over 900! Truly an honor to compete head-to-head at a meet and to come away with second place for women and a meet PR 385 deadlift.
