• TPS Member Minutes June 2014

The Member Minutes section is the place to let us tell the world about how AWESOME TPS members are. I can’t do this unless you tell me about your accomplishments. When TPS first started, I knew EVERY member and I knew what was going on. We have GROWN and, sadly, I don’t know every member. The interweb can fix this. Shoot me an email and let me know about your latest event, whether it is an upcoming event or something you have completed—5K’s, triathlons, powerlifting, or anything sports-related. We want to let the world know. Now, on to this month’s accomplishments:

    From Dustin:

On May 10th, 2014, Olympic Camp’s Ashley Svendbye competed in the APA Champions of New England Cup down in Waterbury Ct.

Ashley normally trains for Olympic lifting, but she became interested in doing a powerlifting meet back in February. We picked the May 10th meet and began training both powerlifting and training Olympic lifting simultaneously.

After three months of hard work, Ashley was ready to dominate on the platform. She went 7 for 9 with a 260 squat, 160 bench, and a huge 335 deadlift in the 132 weight division. Her 755 was not only good enough to win the 132 division, but it was also the second highest total posted by a woman at this competition. If that wasn’t awesome enough, Ashley also qualified ELITE with her total in her first meet! We look forward to seeing more awesomeness from Ashley in future powerlifting and Olympic lifting meets.

Thank you to fellow OL campers Andrew Sparrow and Ben Priest for coming down and spending the ENTIRE day watching and cheering Ashley on. You guys are great.

    Bad Apple Update:

Jane “Bad Apple“ Stabile, Business Manager, Grandmother and World Record holding powerlifter many times over will be heading to Michigan this month to compete at the APF Senior National Championships in powerlifting. This meet is one of the premiere powerlifting events in the world and is a qualifier for the WPC Worlds in Finland this November.

Jane has been training with me (Murph) for many years and for a while, I handed her programming over to Brian Carroll because I felt a change in this area would benefit her AND because Brian is a genius at this.Jane did very well with the combination of me and Brian but she was looking for a new approach for this meet. She decided to have TPS coach and World Record holding powerlifter Jordan Syatt handle her training for this meet. She looks very well prepared and we expect her to easily hit her Elite total.

I’ll keep you posted on here progress.
