With a jam-packed roster for both days, the New England Revolution Powerlifting meet is a qualifying event for the Europa meet in June. It’s also well-timed for local lifters, being the midpoint for the year relative to the RPS-TPS Power Challenge in October.
As usual, TPS brought a commanding crew to this event and walked away with the lion’s share of trophies and records. The ratio of First Place winners to lifters was closer to 1:1 than ever and the representation by women in the meet overall and from TPS was huge.
Full results are listed on the 2014 RPS New England Revolution Powerlifting Results page. All TPS lifters are listed below.
Here are the highlights of the weekend:
Highlights for TPS Lifters – Women
Jane Stabile set World Records for all of her lifts and took First Place in the Masters 60-64 Multi-Ply Division yet again, with a 975 total.
It was the first meet she did together with her daughter Kim Stabile, and First Place definitely runs in the family; Kim Totaled 660 and set all 4 PRs as she topped the Women’s Raw Classic Open 220 division. Kim and Jane will be competing together again at the APF Open Nationals on June 8th in Grand Rapids, MI.
Sue Priver took First Place in the super-heavyweight Raw Classic Open division. She set a World Record for her Deadlift (377.5) and New England Records and PRs for Squat (175) and Total (677.5). Sue has added 217.5 lbs to her total in the past year!
Rozanne Puleo is basically superwoman: she set New England Records with her 620 Total and 150 Bench, giving her First Place in the Raw Classic Open 181. Also in March, she placed third in the shotput at the US Masters Track and Field Championships. AND she just had a baby six months ago at age 39 and can only train twice a week!
Deena D’Andrea did an amazing job at her first meet, her 445 Total earning her two First Place spots in both the Raw Classic Open and Teen (16-17) 114 classes, beating her opponent in the Open division by 10 lbs.
Anna Mekerian won First Place in the Raw Classic Open 165 division, even with missed lifts due to an injury, earning all PRs and a 555 Total.
Jessica Diedrich also won First Place in the Raw Classic Open 148 with a 685 Total.
Carly Millen did an exceptional job in her first meet, totaling 600 and taking Second Place in the Raw Classic Open 132. Carly’s 225 Squat put her in the Top 10 in RPS history—tied for the 8th best Squat for her division and weight class.
Liz MacDonald won Third Place at her first meet in the competitive Raw Classic Open 148 class with PRs on all lifts and a 475 Total.
